Quick Hits

Just a few quick hits from the Islanders 3 to 0 lose against El Diablo's( Devils, for those of you who cant read spanish).

- Despite a impressive NHL debut in the last few games of the previous season, Jack Hillen did not look NHL ready, he played very sloppy and irresponsibly in the defensive zone. However he showed skill in the transition as well as his puck moving ability offesively.

- Joey MacDonald( Big Mac as we like to call him) usually known for a quick glove hand , looked slow and was beaten twice to his glove side. Granted the Devils did have a much more NHL looking lineup than the Isles last night.

- Good to see Sugden and Fritz competing for a enforcer spot on the lineup, but it didn't look like they can do much more. When ever the Devils got the puck in the Isles zone these guys looked lost and were out of position, and forgot about getting the puck deep offensively. Doesnt look like there will be room for either of these guys on the everyday roster. Heres a clip from one of their fights from that night.Yes it is poor quality but unfortunately the only video from wednesday nights game.

- Definetly not happy with the way newly signed Mark Streit played, for all that money you would think he would stop taking dumb those penalties like he did last night.

- The Isles were pretty much dominated in all aspects except maybe the fighting department. But with much less talent then the Devils put out there, you couldnt expect much more.

- After all is said and done, Solid tailgate by Section 329

New York State of Mind( first post)

There she is, good ole Shea Stadium. Beautiful isnt she, almost makes you wanna reach out and grab it by the sides and squeeze and never let go. This image is all we are going to have of this stadium, after it gets knocked down. No help by the Mutts, eh em i mean Mets, to keep this stadium around alittle longer, and have another coupld of games there. But NO, the Mets went out there to a packed, energized stadium and did what they do best, BREAK OUR HEARTS. You know what im not even goin to get into this right now, maybe next september when baseball actually matters for the Met fans as well as all New York baseball fans.

So we move on..............

( Even though my Jets are 2-2) Its Hockey season!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, thank god

And there he is, the new face of the Islanders, Kyle Okposo..... this guy better be good or im gonna be pissed.

But no seriously, the Islanders are back and there first pre season game at the home will be Wed night at 7, against the devils.

New year, New team

Gone are Satan,Fedetenko,Berard, Dubbie, and a few others

The new guy are Weight, Streit( Mr. Powerplay, should be a fantasy stud), and a youth movement including 2008 first round pick Josh Baily.

And now another new guy THOMAS POCK, just picked up off waivers and here because Andy Sutton and Chris Campoli are hurt and more then likely not ready for the season opener. So in is Pock..... An ex ranger with boatloads of talent that has never really be shown at the NHL level, hopefully wearing a islanders jersey will turn those misfortunes around and maybe even become the next Denis Potvin haha joking joking, i dont know maybe just another version of Mark Streit. Well hopefully this year Pock can stay in the minors work on his game, and we can only hope that Campy's and Suttons injurys are not to bad and they can get in the lineup as soon as possible. And pleassee, pleassee Ricky tell me youll be healthy and playing like a top 5 goalie in the net this year..... And one more thing Ricky, please dont let me hear " shit i fucked up my hip", ever again( NHL Allstar game).
